One problem I see (though not a mortal wound to your excellent explanation) is that Balor/Connacht didn't like the krids. In fact, I believe that he hated them as Balor just as much as when he was the Wolf. So would not Balor have tried to kill the Summoner if Alric had lost? But then also (according to Myth 3) Damas hated the krids, too. So why did he raise them up in the first place? That pokes a hole in my theory, I guess. Though it has been noted by some theorists that SB was trying to get back at Balor for something, and that he ended up hating Balor, as well as hating Alric. With SB using the Krids, that seems to indicated that he was intending to act as a free agent anyway, and, conveniently for Damas, Alric capped Balor and saved him the trouble.
Hmm?
