Well after a long discussion with Longshadow, I'm weary about discussing differences between the plots and not actual theories. But here's how I see Mazzarin becoming the entombed Shade. Though we know Mazzarin was killed, it never said he wasn't Shadafied and it never said the battle was lost. After Maz's death they could have pushed back the Watcher. Knowing that Maz would be turned to the Dark if the Watcher found him they hide him away in an old tomb deep within Forest Heart. The Watcher eventually finds him and brings him under control.
I think allot of the Loose ends were tied up because this is the final Myth game and there's no point having loose ends unless the're to be tied up in a later game.
On world Knots, they didn't know much about the World Knots after a thousand years of Magical decline and the WK didn't lead to where they were going.
Ravanna was disapointing yes. Myrks die early, a bit annoying, but its better than having to defeat the same enemies every level. Other wise it was fine.
