Interesting theories, but whose to say what porcessess are involved with becoming a Fallen Lord? Perhaps the advanced magics wielded by these creatures is simply a by product of their ascension( or descention). Many of the Fallen Lords were significantly weaker in life then in death, although this could be attributed to centuries of training, I would expect much of it was imparted when they became Fallen. Case in point Damas, although magical, is no where near powerful enough to wield the Tain or sever the cloudspine in Myth3, yet he is as Soulblighter.
But back to the topic, i would guess that Balor himself choose his minions, afterall their loyal to him are they not? If Shiver was raised by Bahl, then why would she serve Balor? For that matter if Bahl had Shiver under his wing why is he the pathetic lacky of Balor he is in Myth 1?
