Bungie also failed to mention a hero of the previous age.
Actually the recognise him as an avatar, who left the avatar in bad circumstances, ??Having left the Avatara under dark conditions, Mjarin studied the art of Fire Magic." Mazzarin was more prominent during thos battle anyway, and since we was born long ago it meant that he couldn't be the hero. And Mazzarin being the best Archmage of the Light he would have overshone the actual Hero.
Also on the matter of the humans being children of wyrd (I can't remeber if we were allowing Myth III or not but here it is anyway) In the Trow Priests Flavor it qoutes
