: Well, the Head is obviously not very rational - if his
: choice was pure flat-out vengeance against Balor, he
: wouldn't have messed up the Legion's chances for
: victory what with the civil war and betraying Alric -
: unless it was ALL PART OF HIS DASTARDLY DIABOLICAL
: PLAN TO DRIVE THE LEGION INTO A DESPERATE MARCH ON
: RHI'ANON! while fairly convoluted, there *is* evidence
: that supports this - as you mentioned, the Total Codex
: seems next to worthless to the cause, other than
: depriving the Watcher of it - and while the Head seems
: to have played fairly little direct role in the
: Legion's affairs once the Legion gets chased all the
: way east across the Cloudspine - having the Legion
: drive east with the Watcher in pursuit does give the
: Head a chance to make his play for power(which
: presumably failed), massacre a few of the Nine, and
: watch as the Legion goes east and happens to waste
: Balor on the way out...

So, this is exactly what i'm wondering about, did the head want the legion to go north and kill balor? lets say he did use the CIVIL WAR to ensure Alric will go north.
This brings up ***A LOT*** of questions:
did Alirc's captivity (which was caused by the head) was in purpse that he'll learn of the fact that the fallen lords are bound to balor, so he he'll be more vigorous to kill balor? (he did learn that during his captivity, exact quete is in pregame text for the last battle i think).
Did the head arrange the eblis stone to reach alric? because he couldnt have done it without it. And the myrk standard was also alric's idea, did the head arrange that to happen too?! because thats getting VERY far fetched:
get alric to be kidnapped so he can learn about balor, get SB to use the tain so they'll get a myrk standard so they can lure out balor, get the eblis stone to alric, start a civil war. Jesus if that was actually the head's plan from the start then he sure gets the prize for evil plotting.

: Well, the physical similarities are incredibly obvious -
: but as Myrdred calls Shiver "Ravanna" in
: Myth 2, and the item used to resurrect her is one
: mentioned as something Damas was asked to keep at the
: end of Myth 3(The Mirror of Taramist), I'm inclined to
: think otherwise.

I have a crap load of proves to contradict that and di-contradict that, but as I said, its a whole different topic.
