Coupla modifications:
Avernus is actually an Italian lake which according to Roman tradition was a gateway to the underworld; it's not literally the underworld itself.
The Roman king of the underworld and equivalent of the Greek Hades was Orcus; Pluto (the Greek Plouton) is actually an associated underworld deity who presides over all the wealth beneath the Earth (ores and jewels and stuff). And there's no Greek or Roman devil; a few particularly bad people go to Tartarus, but it's adminstrated by the same gods who run the rest of the afterlife.
Not particularly relevant to the Myth connections, but still. :-)
