Just in case you missed my response to Forrest's response to my response earlier in the thread, I figured I'd say it again.
Fenrir or Fenris was a giant wolf, the son of Loki and Hela, the queen of the Dead in Norse mythology. He's the reason the god Tyr only has one hand. At the end of time he will be killed by the silent god Vidarr with a shoe. Yes, a shoe. I get the feeling all the burning and pillaging the Vikings did was in revenge for everyone laughing about their mythology. Anyway, lots of other wolves in modern stories (such as Fenris Ulf in Narnia and an Esper from Final Fantasy) have been named after him.
