How we know we're in the 7th era:
In the Myth II Epilogue, it speaks of the Leveller of the Second Era being beheaded and burnt at the stake. Then, "a thousand years later", he was drawn and quartered on the plains before Illium. "Again, in the Fourth Era," his body was destroyed by fire and his ashed buried under the mountains of Kor. Then there's Moagim, the next Leveller, putting us in the 5th Era, then Balor, the next Leveller, putting us in the 6th, and now Alric has begun the 7th (and the next Leveller will end the 7th).
We know from TFL that Connacht/Balor came from the East, and that Alric came from the West. According to beta texts sent to me by TFL beta testerJosh "Orange" Noel (see <http://myth.bungie.org/legends/relics/unimplemented.shtml>), the tomb of the first Myrkridian king was in Silvermines, indicating that they came from the west. From this, we can extrapolate that Moagim came from the west with them, and, as Balor came from the east just as his former person Connacht did, we can be fairly sure that Tireces, the former person of Moagim, also came from the west if Moagim came from the west. Then, we know that the hero of the Second Era came from the east, from the Leveller flavor text in TFL. Since Tireces/Moagim is the 5th Era, and Alric is the 7th, and all them came from the west, then it seems that odd-numbered eras come from the west. Likewise, since Connacht/Balor is the 6th, and both him and the Hero of the Second Era came from the west, it seems that even-numbered eras come from the east.
