In Response To: Town Populations? (Xelius)

: Is there anything in Myth 1 or 2 referring to the
: population of any of the towns? I'd assume that the
: cities were pretty populated back in the days before
: the great war. I mean, 17 years of constant fighting
: and armies of 20, 000+ fighting men are still being
: issued south.

: I'd also assume that, after Myth II, Humanity would be on
: the verge of extinction. Pretty much every notable
: Human settlement fell to Soulblighter in a matter of
: months. No time to reproduce or rebuild. Just a
: constant slaughter.

: What do ya think?

According to GURPS, the only source we have on population sizes for the various cities, the five great cities of the Province average 40,000 people each, exept Madrigal, which boasts 80,000. The Strand is a city of some 20,000 people. I would estimate that some 75% of these were killed during the various wars (on average: remember, although Tandem never fell, it's likely it's population has been severely strained trying to repopulate the other cities.)Through a certain amount of repopualtion, Muirthemne currently houses around 25,000. The population of the Strand was completely destroyed during Soulblighter's invasion, but it is probably fair to say that a fair amount of rebuilding has been going on there, too, although "slowed by pestilence and rocky soil ill-suited to grave digging".
