: I personally think that Mauls and Oghers are related, but
: not the same race at all. They do look similar, but
: they also are obviously different. So perhaps the
: Mauls are sort of the 'poor cousins' of Oghres, not as
: smart, developed or anything. they were also probably
: even less developed 1000 years ago, since you sorta
: get the idea that the Mauls were equiped by
: Soulblighter. Tales, could also be seen through a
: different light. Perhaps the images therin are the
: imaginings of the Squire who is writing it down.
: Perhaps, also, MJ just took artistic liberties ;).
I agree, actually. I beleive that Tales was written based on word-of-mouth. After all, the last people who saw them were herons, and the likelihood of one of the jmen of the war being a heron back then is highly unlikely. Most of the ones that old would have died in combat by then. So most of it would be told by his parents, told by his parents, and so on till you get to some fellow who had a friend who was an archer on the turret during the Siege of Llancarfan.
: Also the mauls were quite low-profile 'till SB called
: them to him with his promises. Hardly anybody had even
: heard of them…
because they are raider barbarians in the Blind Steppes.
: They did not overlook it, as you can see from Connacht
: and Damas' appearances in the game. Also the Spider
: dimension is shown, persumably where the Spider God in
: M3 was summoned from…
: Santa also said that they did try to make the trow as
: they look in Tales, but that Trow bodies simply don't
: work well with swords. The same could be said about
: Oghres. They look pretty friggin' goofy in Tales.
good on paper.... bad in 3d? :)11
: I always sorta took Tales with a grain of salt anyway…
