: Remember that The Deceiver has the paralysis spell. And
: we do not know if The Deceiver used mind controlled
: minions or magical weapons to wear The Watcher down!
: The way I saw it was that The Deceiver, a FAR weaker
: sorceror, managed to use his intelligence to outwit
: the Mad Goat of the Fens. Like Rubican did to Shiver
: (or whatever his name was... he was the coolest of the
: 9! He looked like Balor with the armour though).
you do not become one of the most powerful sorcerers in the world by being stupid. on top of his fearsom physical aspect, he would have to have a cunning, sharp, quick mind to get to that level of magical competency and sheer power.
the deciever also wouldn't have attracted a following like the scholomance by being wimpy on the magical side, either.
the quote that "... these two had it out..." indicates that either they fought entirely army to army, or else man to man. the rest of the story involving those two indicates that they've been at each other's necks more or less evenly for as long as they've both been around. nothing as sudden and decisive as rabican's surprise defeat of shiver at madrigal.
there are simply too many unknown factors involved to say that much, except that they're both characters to be feared.
your assumptions really are groundless here about who is so much more powerful than the other in exactly what ways.
