The designation is not Trow in origin, though--or at least there's no indication that it is. It's only mentioned in GURPS, where it says that the Callieach are "called by some Sovereigns of the Time Before." Who the "some" are is not stated, which would seem to imply that they're members of human or Light society and not the unique race of Trow whose knowledge on the subject would be the last word.
GURPS says in the preceding section that the Callieach were one of the races that appeared in the world after the Trow. Again, in the Tales Comic the Callieach are described as an example of the new races that "crawled out of the ocean, burrowed out of the mountains, or fell from the sky" while the Trow watched. The Trow described the Callieach as "The most fearsome race from a time now unknowable to all but us," which again implies that they were there to watch.
Of course, none of this reflects on the possibility that the Callieach and the other races could have lived elsewhere for eons previously, before they entered the known Mythworld by various routes.
