: Alric, Rurik, and Kildaer aren't unique, original names
: either. Alric is probably derived from the Old German
: "alaric" which means more or less
: "lord", or more accurately "ruler of
: all". Rurik was the name of Rurik the Russ, whose
: exact role I don't recall except he had something to
: do with early Russian history. (I believe there were
: some other Myth named related to Rurik, but that was
: three years ago I heard about him so I don't recall).
: I seem to recall there being some historical meaning
: to Kildaer - it's obviously of at least partial
: Gaelic/Celtic descent, which Bungie loves - but I
: don't recall what it was either.
Rurik founded the Russian Monarchy, apparently, and his son was Oleg (there's your other other Myth name). Kildaer's probably a respelling of Kildare, the Irish county.
I didn't mean unique in RL...just that they didn't fit into any of the bulk province naming schemes.
: " ... returning home after the defeat of the Fallen
: Lords, the men of the North found their farms and
: villages virtually untouched by the Dark... a
: testament to the mettle of their homeguard."
Well, wartime homeguard doesn't necessarily equal peacetime town guard, which is why I think the latter is still a good guess rather than fact.
: I'm not dead!
You're not fooling anybody, you know.
