: World knots are distributed throught the myth world. The
: great cities (all except muirthemne)have them, or
: rather, are built around them, and yet no one knows of
: their origin.
Do we know that *all* the great cities are? Covenant, Madrigal and Rhi'ornin are the only ones we've seen, right? Tyr, Scales, Muirthemne, etc. may be Knotless...and conversely, some Knots are found in comparatively unpopulated locations. Seems fairly random to me...though I grant you that a nearby Knot is probably a good impetus for settlement.
: The smiths of muirthemne (or at least thier ancestors)
: could be the ones who made them. In the myth 2 level,
: "beyond the cloudspine" the dwarves in the
: party state that they know how to fix a broken world
: knot. So its plausable that they could have built them
: in the first place. Notice how the world knot works
: again as soon as the pieces of unknown stone are put
: together. This proves that no arcane power is set upon
: world knots, but rather the stone used to make the
: world knots are probably magic to begin with.
Or that certain Dwarves know how to re-establish the arcane power set on the knots. ;-)
: In any case, these knots were made a LONG time ago.
: Ri'hanon, the ancient trow city, was created, but it
: was next to a world know (the one alric used in
: "pools of iron".this throws off the dwarven
: theory (as they are a "new race") Could the
: trow, or perhaps their underlings, created them to
: serve as a faster transportation system than going
: through the then ermine? though this is plausable,
: there is more that thickens the plot...
Possible...and the reappearance of the Trow is very close to the time when the Dark suddenly learn to use the Knots.
Working just off Myth II and TFL, though, I'd say that the Knots were built some time in the Wolf Age--or at least that the Light didn't use them until then. If the Trow had built them earlier, then they'd probably have either fixed the Rhi'anon knot or guarded it better...and the Dwarves wouldn't be experts at fixing them.
If humans and/or Dwarves built them, then the only time they could have gotten near Rhi'anon to construct one was in the Wolf Age, after all the Trow were locked away.
Also, many of the Fallen Lords were formerly world-class Light sorcerers...if they don't know how to work the Knots at the beginning of TFL, then Human/Dwarf use of the Knots must have begun after they left civilization to join Balor's army. Which was, again, during the Wolf Age.
: In myth 3 screenshots, there are several screens of
: stonehenge-like constructions. could those have been
: ancient world knots? the ground near the world knots
: in "beyond the cloudspine" are fairly
: consistent with that of the constructions in myth.
Could be. There could be World Knots built at different times, by different people, with different methods of use.
: At any rate, i hope myth3 clears the world knot mystery
: up, because i am stumped :\
