: Hooray! Archer has solved the puzzle with absolutely no
: need for proof or reasoning!
I was tired
leave me alone :-). I thought my reasoning was clear.
If your name is Jaques Buchier, I'm going to assume you're French. If your name is Giovane Andante, I'm going to assume you're Italian. If your name is Baugi, I'm going to assume you're a dwarf. If your name is Andir of the Thousand Blows, I'm going to assume you're a Berserk. If your name is simply Andir (without a title earned in battle), I'm going to assume you're a Northman.
Andir is not a Provincial name. It is a Northman name; and since there are many stereotypical and common traits in the regionally-isolated Mythworld, any deviation from the pattern would be extremely odd. Would a Dwarf be called Alexander? No. Would a Trow be called Joe-Bob? Heckno! Names are a huge indicator of the origin of a person, and of his culture.
For those of you who don't know, the Berserks and Northmen of Myth come from the Vikings and Old Norse of Scandinavia, and Andir is an Old Norse name.
