Although I agree it is a Myrk, there is a little going against your theory here.
a). Although it could have happened before Soulblighter was big, there couldn't be a Myrk there, as by the time the Myrks emerged the world was pretty much aware of Soulblighter and were embroiled in war.
b). This is only from a writer's perspective, but the end of that particular passage '…the best stories often deserve a second telling' is a writing convention used to establish an ominous tone. If Soulblighter had already revealed himself and/or his Myrkridian allies to the world, then this wouldn't really be neccesary. I'd say that this was written BEFORE Soulbligher's re-emergence.

In mine as well, although it is a clash, because I'm definate that this piece of writing is set before Soulblighter emerges, but that would mean he had no Myrks, unless he was stockpiling them. Could be Mahir maybe?
