Actually, it's older then Bungie's usage. It originated in the "Yo momma's so [adjective] ... " jokes, AFAICT (fex "Yo momma's so fat, when she sits around the house, she really sits AROUND the house"). Then it went on to just "Yo momma!" with the ensuing insult left blank, just implied. From there it morphed into the more urban "Your mom", which is used in the famous Bungie conversation.
How the hell do I know this stuff? Sometimes I scare myself...
