In light of some input, I thought a refining of the definitions might be useful, taking some of griefmop's advice without losing the applications of the definitions.
•Life (n.) 'lĎf
Life has many characteristics. Since it's nearly impossible to truly define it, generatlizations like the following can be used as definitions:
–the existence of living.
–the essence of being alive.
However, this only tells of the relationship between this term and other terms, not what it truly is. Therefore, Life can be defined as, perhaps, "the natural state of an animated being" or "the natural animation of a being", "natural" being opposed to the "supernatural" necromancy of undeath. Undeath/unlife is not natural life, but supernatural life.
•Alive (adj.) ä · lIv'
*–in the state of life.
–having life.
–in the state of having life.
•Death (n) 'deth
–the existence of not living.
–the existence of not having life.
–the essence of not being alive.
–the essence of being dead.
Multiple definitions help to broaden the range of possibilities of the term so that it may apply to all things that it is called.
•Dead (adj.) 'ded
–the end of life.
–in the state of death.
–not living
–in the state of not living.
•Undead (adj.) ün · ded'
–in the state of not being dead.
–in the state of undeath.
•Undeath (n.) ün · deth' , 'ün · deth
–the existence of not being dead.
–the essence of being undead.
•(Unalive*) (adj.) ün · ä · lIv'
–in the state of not being alive.
–in the state of not having life.
•Unlife (n.) ün · lĎf' , 'ün · lĎf
–the existence of not living.
–the essense of not being alive.
*–the existence of not living naturally.
Can everything fit into this now? We can refine it later.
