To be fair, Freedom apparently means exactly the same thing as Democracy, whatever form of Democracy it may be (pre-revolution Vietnam, anyone?). As for Peace, in the past century, America has bombed 13 different countries. While peace has been caused in some of these cases, democracy I don't think has ever been.
This, however, is beside the point. While America could do a lot more for the rest of the world, the fact remains that this is no reason to be ungrateful for all that they have done, whether they had self interest as heart or not.
Anyway, my time's short, but I think you guys may be being a little harsh on HGK. Sure, he came to a much too early conclusion, and may have phrased his opinions in a manner that seemed insensitive, but can't you forgive him for that?
