It's NOT that an American life is more important than any other. That's NOT why this is appropriate to post and discuss here. The tragedy is NOT that (however many) people died. That is to MISS THE POINT.
THIS WAS AN ACT OF TERRORISM AGAINST THE ENTIRE FREE WORLD.
THIS WAS AN ACT OF WAR AGAINST THE ENTIRE FREE WORLD.
These are reasons that EVERY freedom-loving person should be appalled at the events of September 11, 2001.
Why is America so important? Because if it can happen here, it can happen anywhere. Because Palestine and Afghanistan are scared shitless that we might retaliate before getting all the details. Because we have the power to retaliate like no nation in the history of the known universe. Because this might start World War 3. Dammit, this is of the utmost importance to the whole world! And yes, it's more critical because it was America that was attacked.
And don't give me BS about us not caring about the rest of the world! And don't tell me that Americans shouldn't grieve more for people they know than for people they don't. Does anybody do this? It's human nature. It's the way we work. We form relationships with people we meet, not with statistics on a page. Is that our fault?
I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt that your remarks were made in quick anger or ignorance. Or, shudder the thought, this is all a way to get back at Archer for hurting your feelings.
Now shut up and pray that the leaders of America get this, their great challenge, right and we don't all die.
