sorry to add to the pile of flames on this post, hgk, but this you show attitude is inappropriate.
i would ask how much grief you feel that this has happened, but i'm afraid i could guess the answer.
true, many innocents die each day all around the world because of potentially avoidable circumstance and we scarcely bat an eyelid.
true, it seems unfair that when something dreadful happens to america, all the attention turns that way. this is because america is perhaps the world's greatest power. it is because it's so spectacular a catastrophe. it is because so many innocents were killed in what is essentially an act of war.
and america, no less, is responsible for perhaps more, over the years. the government may have been building up to such a climax as this, but the people who died, those who were injured or permanantly maimed, or those who lost others in the disaster did not deserve such a thing to ever happen to them.
of course people will make noise. of course there's going to be noise about it all over the web, since so much of it is american.
i grieve for what was lost, encompassing those who are behind these tragic acts. i grieve for them because they have lost sight of what it is to be human. yet given the chance, i might (perhaps most unwisely) treat them as human, if i could.
