We know from GURPS that the Myrmidons remained animated even after the defeat of Balor, wandering in groups of up to several score, while I assume Balor's Thrall would have simply reverted to their dead state following the loss of their animator's will. And Archer, before you complain about the use of GURPS, consider that we have absolutely no evidence from anywhere else that would contradict this.
