In Response To: Re: Reply 'hee-yar (Lord Raven)

: Interesting theory. I don't agree with it, but it's still
: interesting. Got any in-game facts to back it up.

That's exactly what I was about to ask myself :-). There isn't anything supporting or any reason to believe in it.

: If Soulblighter survived the explosion at the Great
: Devoid (and he was right there), I can't imagine Alric
: dying there when he wasn't even present.

Agreed.

: I don't think Alric had to die to appear in Myth II. The
: Heron Guard have been around since before the fall of
: Muirthemne and as far as I know, Myrdred has been
: around a hell of a lot longer. Unless of course he is
: Undead or Unliving or whatever term we've decided on
: now.

Damn straight. Alric looks pretty old to be just 90 for an Avatara (basing that on the thought that most mages have some extended form of life).
Now, I've held the belief that undeath is the quality of a being which has died of its natural life and is only animate because magical forces do so. Without those magic forces, the being will "die" and no longer be animate.
I'm sure this sounds like Heron Guards or Avatara. So before I'm attacked, I'll rebut now :-).

Yes, both seem to have their lives and physiques enhanced by magic on a regular basis. However, this does not mean that they will die if their magic goes away. If the magic within them suddenly disapates, if a Heron Guard stops self-healing, they won't die. They will live out a natural life and die, potentially, of natural causes. Any undead creature, however, will die if its animation magics disipate.
