Interesting theory. I don't agree with it, but it's still interesting. Got any in-game facts to back it up.

If Soulblighter survived the explosion at the Great Devoid (and he was right there), I can't imagine Alric dying there when he wasn't even present.

I don't think Alric had to die to appear in Myth II. The Heron Guard have been around since before the fall of Muirthemne and as far as I know, Myrdred has been around a hell of a lot longer. Unless of course he is Undead or Unliving or whatever term we've decided on now.
