: And what happened to the old one? :-) I'm pretty sure
: that one clearly died, certainly his natural one.
There are many different interpretations of death. In Shakespearean plays, dying was a metaphor for sexual climax. Just because Soulblighter has taken on a new life, does not mean his original one died in the traditional source of the word. It may have ceased to exist, but it did not die.
: Lol! This is one of those really, really funny things
: that I hear that I must laugh at because it seems very
: rediculous to me.
: Nothing but humans have the capacity for true and full
: sentience. Even other apes and dolphins can only come
: close, but not anywhere near the creative or
: conceptual abilities we have. That is my definition of
: sentience, as many others'. (I certainly think animals
: have emotions, can feel pain, can think, have a will
: of their own, and many other things very
: "human," but they are definitely mentally
: inferior to us, without a doubt.)
This is the kind of thing that makes humanity such an arrogant race. Badgers and racoons of the world unite!
It's also to portray my tone as
: positive and friendly, as opposed to criticizing,
: unkind, and nagging. I'm very sorry if this is how
: I've come off; it certainly wasn't intended.
That is one of the dangers of the written word. Miscommunication is common, as I now realise. If your laughter was genuine attempt to lighten the mood then I apologize, but just like sarcasm, laughter can be read differently without tone of voice to back it up.
: And I'm also truely, very sorry if you read my posts one
: sentence at a time.
I don't. I read the whole thing and the respond to it one point at a time. What relevance does this have anyway?
: I hardly did, and I do respect you, as any other
: Asylumite. If I can respect HGK, I can respect anyone
: :-).
Heh. That borders on disrespecting poor HGK.
: All right, that's quite enough. Now you're insulting me,
: nothing of which I'd ever do here. Just lay off
: already. If you keep at this, I'll have no choice but
: to respond in kind, so stop getting angry over my
: attempt, however inferior, at friendliness.
Respond in kind? It was your post in which your 'attempt to lighten the mood' came across as arrogance, and your reference to foolhardy (regardless of whether or not you were referring to my statement) that forced me to respond like this. I did not intend to insult you, but it becomes quite irritating when someone puts their own opinions on a higher level than those of others. A person with a University Degree has no more competancy when debating Myth than someone who failed infants school. Your opinions may be backed up with countless other sources, but that doesn't give you the right to immediatly dismiss the opinons of others as foolhardy.
Bah! This thread is really starting to bore me. I'm regretting my choice to even involve myself in it. I just wanted to voice MY opinion of things, instead I get uber-long threads from Archer. :(
