: First this entire arguement goes into far more
: technicalities than I care to go into, so I'm not
: picking any side, however, I must point out this: Um..
: ACTUALLY. If I'm correct, Myth *is* an RPG, ie, GURPS.
OMF, F, G!!!
GURPS is nothing more than a system based on Myth, and bears no true resemblance to the game. That information is faulty in many respects and the rest is invented. Why? Myth is not and was not designed for an RPG, and so Gene Seabolt had to fill in a lot of the gaps by invented it. I'm sure GURPS: Myth is an interesting game, but it is not Myth in any strict sense.
: I know that didn't come first and isn't canon, however,
: Myth most definately is an RPG.
No
GURPS is most definately something which used Myth as part of it. If it were Myth, it would be Myth: GURPS, not GURPS: Myth.
: And provided that I'm correct again, which I most
: definately am, Myth's world is constructed using
: archetypes from and references to mythology of ever
: discernable sort - hence the name MYTH. MYTH MYTH
: MYTH!
Yes, very good; I'm glad we agree.
Myth is taken from many sources, naturally, but it doesn't have dragons, does it? It doesn't have cavalry, either, it seems. For whatever reason, many things weren't implimented in Myth from other mythologies. Therefore, Myth does not require to have any thing, necessarily, from any mythology at all.
: Do you *really* think that bungie made the entire world
: out of nothing, just like, made shit up?
Obviously not.
: And most of
: it happened to coincide with known myths and folklore
: and legendary stories? Why is it, do you suppose, that
: many of the names or events in myths have that vague
: familiarity to them? You don't get that kind of
: familiarity from something some programmer sitting in
: his basement just thinks up! It's because they are
: from mythology, and you've probably heard of many of
: them on some subconscious level.
I am no stranger to any of this, which you should know by now. The fact that Myth comes from other mythologies doesn't mean any one specific thing should be in it.
: And, using 'lol' in what you claim to be a respectful and
: serious arguement appears to be a mocking tactic,
: which really takes away from your pretence of
: seriousness and respectability!
Nice
I'm glad you're being so entirely friendly about this; how long have you been here? How much is it that you've actually learned about Myth's story?
: I'm completely impartial to the arguement, I don't think
: either side was right, but I had to point that out.
Lol! And I don't mean that as a mocking tactic, but that I am actually laughing. I am truly amused by that; that's why I laugh.
You're a joke. Don't come here and be offensive just to be offensive, much less put forth an inflamitory argument for no reason.
