: Ah, but technicality obviously rules over all. It's
: hardly my interpretation, but a statement of verbal
: fact.
The word DOESN'T exist, at least not in any dictionary I've looked in. Sure, un means to reverese, but if a word doesn't exist it has to be made up. If we made it up, we can define its meaning.
: Lol, no it's not. Despite that, it's not even IN MYTH.
: Myth is hardly an RPG or some other stupid mythology.
See Tronyn's response, if you recall there was this little release called GURPS Myth. For the uninitiated GURPS means Generic Universal ROLEPLAY System.
: Lol! Vampires have never, ever, been called
: "unliving" by any official source.
There is an official source on Vampires now? If I recall, they are mythological creatures based loosely on the actions of Vlad the Impaler. Being an official source on Vampires is like being an official source on Unicorns. Mythology is up to individual interpretation. Look over the different variations of Vampires in Warhammer, Buffy and Dungeons and Dragons. There is no set Vampire design, so you cannot have an official source on them.
: "Twice Born", of two lives, and the very fact
: that, once natural life ends, it dies. It may be
: immediately replaced by an artificial life.
Twice Born could also refer to the 'new' life he found. We all know he was a good guy early on, he trekked into the desert to find immortality and came back as one evil SOB. We know he was evil, as he does not revert to his former self after Balor's death like Myrdred did.
: Myrmidons died when their natural lives ended, which
: coinsided with their new, artificial lives. This is
: just one way of looking at the situation, which can
: hardly be disproved.
And it can hardly be proved either, so kindly leave it out of the debate.
: How sentient are they? They might not be any more in
: capacity than a rabid racoon.
A rabid racoon is still sentient.
: Lol! Turquine wasn't. They're just long-dead sorcerers.
: Avatara are sorcerers, so they might qualify to become
: Shades (MIGHT the key word there). We know of Mazzarin
: the Shade, so he might be the undead form of Mazzarin.
Nice to see maturity is alive and well in the Asylum. If you don't agree, I'm fine with it. I don't need some condescending fool ridiculing my posts. If I wanted to see lol as the beginning to every sentence I'd go to a chatroom.
:
you are serious? We see other Avatara in TFL, in the
: intro at least, and they don't bear any resemblance to
: Alric, and certainly not that head we see flying by,
: the spitting image of Alric. It looks just like the
: pregame art and all other art for Alric, including the
: intro. It's obviously originally meant to be Alric.
: Besides, that's just one example of a lost plot arc,
: including Mazzarin, potentially.
We find yokels carrying guns in Myth II, an obvious easter egg, is that canon? Easter eggs are included for the enjoyment of the players, or as some secret message, why does Alric's head flying over the Devoid have to be so significant? Couldn't it just be Bungie playing a joke?
: I'm not the only one who dislikes it. I'm also informing
: you that it is a confusing and wrongly-suggestive term
: which will only cause problems. We have enought of
: those here.
As far as I'm aware you are, I've never had anyone else complain. Regardless, Forrest nicely disproves us all further down, so the point is mute.
: I already proved why it's a faulty term. Why can't we
: pick a better one?
Proved!? You ranted on about reversal in the English language, which hardly disproves anything. As you say, Unlife was invented by Welly (apparently) and thus he earns the right to define it.
: Good for D&D. They also have Dragons in D&D too, not to
: mention Elves. There are no Fallen Lords in D&D, no
: Alric, Muirthemne, or Avatara, or Berserks, Myrgard,
: Stoneheim, Madrigal, Barrier, Province, or thousand
: other things. You see, there are many differences
: between the two stories. Let's not confuse them,
: seeing as they have little in the way of similarity.
D&D is based on myths and legends, as is Myth. BTW, there are Berserks in D&D. :)
: "Un" is an English prefix meaning
: "reversal," as to undo a mistake or look
: at an unmade bed.
: "Undeath" means reversal of death . The
: reversal of death is to animate a thing that died,
: however long its period of death was (which can even
: be considered to coinside with undeath).
: "Unlife" means "reversal of life."
: The reversal of life is death, non-existance. Shades
: surely exist, however, and are clearly more than dead.
: This is why your term is faulty.
As Forrest points out, we're both wrong here.
: And I originally meant no disrespect in all of this. It
: was only by your fool-hardy defense of an illogical
: term which brought this argument up.
'I originally meant no disrespect'!!!! You not only laugh at most of my statements, but you also refer to me as foolhardy. If it wasn't for the presence of some fact in this post, I'd almost regard it as a flame. As I said, I have no problem if people disagree with my opinion or when they prove me wrong. You not only did NOT prove me wrong, you also treated my like some ignorant fool, a tag I do not appreciate. Why would people post in the Asylum when people like you think it is alright to openly ridicule their ideas as long as you do it with some tact and not scream 'OMFG, LR is a St00pid H00r mb'.
