: Actually, it's probably worth noting that, while
: Myrmidons are thoroughly dessicated, they are still
: mostly fleshy, and if they were female you'd expect a
: lot more sag.
As you've repeated this a bit, let me discuss it. I don't agree at all that they're "mostly fleshy". All moisture has evaporated from their bodies, leaving them as a magically constructed apparition of bones and dust held together by skin. The closest parallel would be the unfortunates of our world who are starving - they have no sag, indeed those parts of their bodies are practically devoid of flesh.
So the absence of sag means nothing really. The presence of strategically placed cloths at the breast area has, imho, more significance.
: Also, for those of you that believe
: GURPS, one of the Myrmidon adventure seeds was
: "Rampaging Myrmidons cart off a noble's daughter.
: Her beauty leaves even these undead smitten, it
: seems." which would seem to suggest a certain
: maleness.
Mb, mb not. They may worship beauty among their own race (certainly they did worship their own beauty at one time) and may have had a tradition prior to becoming dark or recruiting beautiful women as new members of their clan.
: Finally, if the Myrmidons were a race of
: warrior women, given the predominace of male fighters,
: you'd expect more Myrmidon names along this theme,
: such as the Amazon names Andromache (man-fighter),
: Andromeda (ruler of men), Antandre (preceding men) and
: Euryleia (woman wanderer). Even so, some Amazon names
: do have a distinctly Myrmidonish or Berserkerish ring,
: such as Molpadia (death song), Prothoe (first in
: might), Pyrgomache (fiery warrior) and Aello
: (whirlwind).
This is perhaps the strongest argument in your favour here, seeing how Bungie researched the mythology of their creations so thoroughly. On the other hand, perhaps they would want to make it that obvious.
: Even so, my guess would be that Ravanna
: is the exception rather than the rule, a woman general
: in a society of male warriors, much like, let's see...
: Xena?
Heh, that's really as fair an assumption as any, and really it'd work just as well to have this model as to have an all-female race of Myrmidons. My only hope is that we see plenty of myrms in-game in Myth 3 and get to find out :) Also, that they use their grishnaka(?) blades rather than the wimpy bone things that Ravanna's carrying ;)
cheers

PS: I can't resist. We know they're female because they're mummies, not daddies :)
