: Just like to point out that Ravanna is a definate hotty.

Amen to that!
: Good point. I'd always assumed that the Myrmidons just

That reminds me a little bit of one piece of trivia that might (or might NOT) be useful. Here it is anyway: Hittite soldiers, who were clean shaven, wore long robes and long plaited pigtails, which led to them being called "Women Warriors" ("Ahaut-Hamatyu") by the Egyptians. The word occurs during an epic poem of the battle of Kadesh, where Ramessees shouts to the fleeing warriors all around him "Why are you scared of these woman warriors!". Considering that Troy was considered by the Hittite king to be one of his most dependable allies, this might say something about the "Amazons" who came to its defence.
: *Goes to look* Yegads! The passive anarchist is right!
: We may have just solved another portion of the Fallen
: Lords riddle.
Actually, it's probably worth noting that, while Myrmidons are thoroughly dessicated, they are still mostly fleshy, and if they were female you'd expect a lot more sag. Also, for those of you that believe GURPS, one of the Myrmidon adventure seeds was "Rampaging Myrmidons cart off a noble's daughter. Her beauty leaves even these undead smitten, it seems." which would seem to suggest a certain maleness. Finally, if the Myrmidons were a race of warrior women, given the predominace of male fighters, you'd expect more Myrmidon names along this theme, such as the Amazon names Andromache (man-fighter), Andromeda (ruler of men), Antandre (preceding men) and Euryleia (woman wanderer). Even so, some Amazon names do have a distinctly Myrmidonish or Berserkerish ring, such as Molpadia (death song), Prothoe (first in might), Pyrgomache (fiery warrior) and Aello (whirlwind). Even so, my guess would be that Ravanna is the exception rather than the rule, a woman general in a society of male warriors, much like, let's see... Xena?
Incidentally, I got all that stuff on Amazon names from http://www.whoosh.org/issue12/ruffel3.html
