: Thanks, Sili. I am perfectly aware of what the term
: decimation means, as akin to the Latin
: "decimare", blah blah blah… I was obviously
: using the term figuratively, since it carries a great
: weight in its general meaning, that of crushing or
: destruction.

Yes, but it's also the precise term used by the narrator himself. And whether he used it figuratively or literally, there's no reason to think that the entire army was lost.

: That's a technicality. Why would Twelve Motion, if only
: under Alric during the game eastern campaigns, have
: anything to do with The Deceiver or Alric? If so,
: being under Alric during the game eastern campaigns
: has no meaning.

Not sure what you're trying to say here. Myrdred was apparently caught by Twelve Motion after Balor's death. Presumably any survivors of TFL--no matter who they served under--turned immediately to the business of finishing off the surviving Fallen Lords. So Twelve Motion could have served under Alric during the end levels of TFL, then have gone on to defeat The Deceiver.

True, the narrator says that all Legion survivors were sent to the Great Devoid--but there were those who fought with them yet were not officially Legion, like Alric himself. Alric prudently *didn't* go to the Great Devoid, and perhaps certain knowledgeable and exceptional persons--like a wise veteran Journeyman--he kept with him rather than sending them off to dispose of a severed head.

Oh, and one other possibility: Twelve Motion could have served Alric prior to TFL, in those campaigns which apparently went on before the Dark ever reached the Province. Maeldun fought in the East back then, and perhaps Alric did too.

Lots of options...

: Not…really…or according to Alric, Twelve Motion, or
: seemingly The Deceiver. If he could get up under his
: own power, he'd do it when he was safe and protected
: by his 'locks.
: However, we know that the septer was definitely
: necessary, among other factors. There are different
: permutations for the spell, but that's more in favor
: of humorous interest and the theatre aspect rather
: than any kind of proof that they didn't have to be
: correct.

But if he'd gotten up before the Berserk got there, he wouldn't have gotten the scepter so easily...which presumably he wanted for its innate power, whether it was vital to his reanimation or not. Might as well just keep his head down and relax in the ice while the little people take all the risks and get the thing to him. Plus Alric's trust in him was largely based on his belief in Myrdred's gratitude...for that to work, Myrdred has to at least act like he needed the Light to rescue him.

: No no; it's obvious that Bungie changed everything. Anime
: was an elisted company, not the Bungie artists
: themselves (the very intelligent ones you're so fond
: of). They can change those simple little bits of art
: very quickly, as they most likely did, or were smart
: enough not to do it until the last second. Since the
: cutscenes with the Brigs are minor, something only we
: would really notice or know about, they obviously kept
: them (those kinds of contracts don't last a long
: time…and reopening one! gah, no thanks! I'm sure they
: said). They're not going to go to Anime and ask to
: change it.

That's not what I'm talking about. I don't disagree that the cutscenes were done early on and correspond to a pre-release version of the gameworld...I'm saying that, in addition to this, Bungie's own artists kept a bit of Brigand-ness in the final version Warriors they drew.
