In Response To: Re: Alric and the Deceiver- LR's Theory *PIC* (Archer »–)›)

: Is it really a different guy? And I read your posts and
: happen to fully agree with them that TFL had desperity
: written all over it.
I would assume, since the Legion discovers the journal in the Baron's keep. Remember?

: Basically, yeah. Like any living heir to the throne, for
: instance Octavian Caesar, Alric wanted to get rid of
: any opposition, especially the more-powerful other
: members of The Nine, just as Octavian had Caesarion
: killed. And also just as King Alric became the most
: heraldic King and ruler in living memory, Octavian,
: renaming himself Augustus, for august, founded the
: Roman Empire by becoming Rome's first emperor and
: began the Golden Age of Rome.
Very good point, it'd sure put a new slant on the whole Alric angle. Who knows, maybe if and when MJ releases Myth IV, which they did elude to, they'll explore Alric further.

: Well, we can assume that, but that might make an ass out
: of you and me because Myrdred was "bent to
: Balor's will." He certainly didn't become Fallen
: willingly.
Not doubting you, but where'd you get that? Either way, he may have been bent to his will, but did retain some sentience. We can be sure of that, if of course, he was Alric's informant through the Head.

: I prefer to believe that Myrdred despised Connacht for
: making him a subbordinant when he before was living
: large as the leader of The Nine.
That works. I kinda liked my angle, mostly because it makes old Myrdred out to be a big good guy. Each to his own though...

: Now this is a good point. Perhaps this is why Myrdred
: didn't let himself die when bent to Balor's will,
: allowing himself to become The Deceiver.
Glad you agree. :)

: That's what I meant; Dec had a plan from the beginning
: with The Head, controlling and talking through it.
: Alric didn't get in on it until Dec made a bargain
: with Alric.
Damn it Forrest! Just tell us who the Head is!

: Actually, Alric later states that he was interrogated by
: Balor when he was the Dark's prisoner. We can assume
: Dec said at least a word or two at some point. Why not
: have him bargain with Alric during this time?
Yeah, but old Balor had a helmet, but I suppose he would've taken it off for intimidation purposes.

: Absolutely; this would also explain how Alric was not,
: indeed, any incarnation of a former person, but that
: he was simply informed by Dec.
Gets rid of those annoying Spirit theories.

: Sidenote: I really hope that Myrdred's connection with
: the Trow goes back to him defending them from
: Connacht…or something interesting that's at least
: mentioned.
Actually, that is a very cool point. Maybe Myrdred fell out with Connacht, We know that Connacht aka Balor is evil, but that he maintains something of his former life (he still loathes the Myrkridia for example). So maybe this falling out was the cause for Balor enslaving Myrdred, as a punishment. Maybe without Myrdred standing up for the Trow, Balor would've left him be? Just an opinion. He is evil, so maybe he doesn't care about former friends. We all know Damas didn't need much convicing, hell, he didn't even need Balor.

: I always thought that "The Deceiver" comes from
: the fact that he deceives his living enemies with his
: Binding Dream (and mb did a couple other deceitful
: things some time) into believing he was their master.
: More precisely, he forces deceit upon those enemies to
: have them deceive their own leaders and turn to Dec's
: control. I don't think there's actually a proper term
: from this besides "deceiver" (or maybe
: "deceivor").
Yeah, but Binding is a lot different than decieving. Besides, he may also have had a honeyed tongue...

: Actually, it was The Watcher who attacked The Deceiver
: when he figured out that Dec was trying to dig up his
: arm, since the previous summer, breaking through
: Rabican's army with great haste, killing Rabican, and
: aiming like a rocket at The Deceiver.
Yeah, just played some levels. You're right.

: It's very good, naturally. You brought up a couple good
: points there. I think we're quickly approaching
: another Asylumitic Solution (like with Shades and
: Avatara). :-)
Whoot! My first theory, however closely based on your own, and it isn't picked to pieces!
