Early theories tended to think that the Myth World was ancient, ancient Europe (What I mean is, 'fashioned' after Europe, yeah, that's it). If we look at the way that Earth has shifted itself over the last two million years; Yer Ks could've become the United Kingdom (breaking from the continent in a shift that may also raise it above sea level). The Tarhan Downs (The lower part of the cloudspine that extends over that piece of land that extends south into the sea, also where Strand is) could very easily have become Italy. Tectonic shifts could have also made that island to the north of the Twelve Duns into Denmark. The island of Leix (If that is it's real name) could be a mountain now on the border of France when Spain rose above sea level. Of course, this would make Slovakia the Great Devoid.
This geographical thinking would also make the Town River into the Rhone; Scamander into the Loire; Meander into the Seine.
There's more but I must find my maps first.
