Where are you getting this from (if your getting info from HWED's "Broken Cyce" I'm gonna have to impail you with large sharp objects"? SB never wanted to break the cycle, he just wanted to fufill what Balor failed to do, to obliterate the light from the earth. Heres the proof from the Myth II seciton III (The Story So Far...) section:

"Soulbighter found himself defeated but alive and free from Balor's service. He escaped into the wilderness to bide his time and look for an opportunity to return to his former power, to achieve the ambition that was denied his master."

and btw, I very much doubt that the cycle has been broken. I mean though SB caused quite a bit of havoc, there have been ancient evils around during light ages before, like the Watcher during the reighn of Connacht.
