Connacht went East, beyond Gower--and he wasn't on the top 10 public enemies list at the moment.
Soulblighter went there after TFL--the Cath Bruig Empire was gone, the Province was in ruins and the only Light champion left of any stature was Alric, who was busy rebuilding. No one had a chance to stop him. The Light was far more powerful after Connacht's war, and could have sent huge expeditions to track down and destroy Mazzarin.
It's not coincidental that no known high-profile evil dudes were active during the early Wolf Age. Balor, Soulblighter, the Deceiver and Shiver were all good at the time. The Watcher was imprisoned. The Voiceless One, if she's separate from Shiver, was dead. We would expect a Shade-Mazzarin to be similarly out of commission in some fashion during an Age ruled by the Light.

So according to that definition "edifice" can mean any sort of building. And when have the Trow ever built a building that wasn't of imposing size? Now if Acerus Malum Magnus had continued with "On the other hand, we just built the 8-foot-tall shacks and outhouses for kicks..."

Ceremonial cannibalism. Absorbing the strength of their enemies, or illustrating that the lesser races are fit for nothing except to be consumed and used by the Trow.
And they didn't eat quite everyone...some people had to be impaled on sticks to show off.
