In Response To: Re: The Forrestine Cycle? (SiliconDream =PN=)

: It could have happened before the Trow's imprisonment;
: they were known to favor certain humans (like Myrdred)
: and doubtless allowed them access to their lands. And
: in any case Avatara and other powerful archmages have
: all sorts of transportation/cloaking magics (and are
: the size of a small cat, compared to the Trow), so
: they could enter Trow territory without the owners
: giving their permission, or even noticing.

If anyone knows wh to speak Latin tell us what furor peticus means and I'll answer this part of the post.
But I'll just say that the Trow hated all other races. I don't think that they would have left humans near their most hallowed structure.

: And it could have happened after the Trow cities'
: destruction; substantial ruins are still visible even
: at the time of TFL. A Shrine of Nyx could have been
: overlooked by Connacht, or partially damaged so that
: it was easily collapsible later.

Naa. THE Shrine of Nyx would be enormous. I mean like enourmous to a TROW.
And they were not substantial ruins. Tiny ruins Tiny ruins if you human minute ruins to a Trow. I don't think that Connacht overlookedany shrine to Nyx because they were so important to Trow society and would bee one hell of a spit in the face of the Trow.

: I personally favor the first option. Remember, almost
: every Trow building was a shrine of Nyx, so this could
: have taken place anywhere. Alric and Sinis only refer
: to THE Shrine of Nyx because whichever particular
: Shrine fell on him probably acquired a certain
: distinction in Sinis' mind. :-)

But it was "every Shrine, every edifices we built fo the love of Nyx."
Not every building.
I'll say this again Connacht would definetly destroyed every Shrine to Nyx and made sure of it because this would be a great insult to the Trow.

: Incidentally, if Mazzarin was Shadified by the Watcher,
: than he's an extremely long-lived Shade. I think one
: would need to explain how he survived the battle that
: left the Watcher imprisoned; how he survived
: Connacht's entire war, then drifted around during
: several centuries of Light domination while not doing
: much of anything and not getting tracked down and
: destroyed by the Bruig or the other Avatara.

One. Phelot escaped the Battle in "Shiver"

Two. he mightent have been there all the time. A shade this tough may have his own Army.

Three. In life he was the greatest Avatara of the 4 ages. Not the 5th though that may have been one of the Nine, (and not Alric since he wasn't the most Magically powerfull (kinda like SB) but was the most tacticaly minded (kinda like SB)). In undeath he was still tough but after over 1000 years of fighting he was weakend by battling against Dec in a previous battle maybe by Alric too and if he changed sides by the Watcher aswell.

Four. For most of those 1000 years he would have been in the Untamed lands training.
