: continent over there, with assorted human nations.

The Mauls only live on the Blind Steppes. The Blind Steppes lie east of even the East. North-east to be more precise. The East is east of the Cloudspine after all. They certainly didn't bother the Cath Bruig much. For all we know, they could've come with Soulblighter. Whatever is east of the known world of Myth is land in which no civilised nation exists, considing that the only individuals that go there or come from there are Levelers, great heroes or the collaborators the former two. And, of course, it could always be that not even the great heroes actually come from the unknown territories. They might've been born in the East.
