That dude looks like a smith--lowercase, a guy that makes metal stuff. Hammer, protective eyewear, apron, funky experimental gun-flamethrower thing. This is a well-established Dwarven career niche--same kind of folks as will be making Myth II Dwarves' mortars and balloons and cannons--and I don't think it has anything to do with the Smiths of Muirthemne, who were evidently magicians first and foremost and who probably never had to bang on anything with a hammer.
Now it could certainly be that the actual Smiths who made the Tain were, say, a magically-gifted higher level of the same organization as this Dwarf. But I really don't think it's likely that he's actually one of them, and I don't think we can say that this movie is intended to show a Dwarven link.
