: It's true, I think it was mentioned in an interview with
: Jason Jones way back in the TFL days. They took a
: pizza box lid, drew a line down the middle, and put on
: one side of the line cliche'd, over-done ideas that
: they weren't going to use, and original new concepts
: that they liked.
yup, i wouldn't make up something like that which could be so easily seen to be a guess :)
Alric didn't come of age in the game thus they avoided that dumb shpiel. What I meant was that the major story arcs In The Game were not based on other literature. of course Names and Places and Minor Details would be taken from other things, maybe even some events we never saw (like the plains of Ileum), not no major huge story arcs Seen In Game are ripped off directly at any point in either of the games which is why Bungie made that list in the first place.
I just assumed you muight remember those old interviews, but don't worry i forget those kind of things too :)
: The example of cliched ideas not to be used was something
: like "young boys coming of age to discover they
: possess great powers, then going on to save the
: world". Mauriac is just lucky young warrior who
: became a hero. Alric is a mage - he was either born
: and raised one, or just decided to study magic and
: became one, so he's not coming of age into some sort
: of magical inheritance he never knew he had.
yep
