Not necessarily, when you look at Soulblighter's portfolio of experiments. From what I can guess, he also was the first to create and/or use Ghasts, which aren't known for their prowess. Mauls and Myrkridia aren't his experiments, just allies, so really, he created two things. Ghasts and Souls, and we know which of those are better.
