: Well technically, being a Thrall wouldn't be considered
: Unlife.
sure it can. the term "Thrall" cannot be taken for its English meaning just as "Dream" cannot be interpreted for its English definition... in the Myth world the capital letter can change its definition completely.
: Undeath/Unlife is usually associated with some
: form of autonomy, some independent thought.
you mean zombies that think? :)
umm usually they are mindless beasts, and in the Myth world they are mindless zombies under the command of Dark sorcerors
: Meanwhile,
: being a Thrall is defined as 'bondage as a slave',
: which would mean a loss of individualty and personal
: freedom.
ahh but the English definition does not apply here. even though it does fit in a way: Thrall are slaves to the Dark.
: I do like your arguments, but if Bungie used
: the proper definition of a Thrall, then they do not
: possess 'Unlife' in the true sense of the word. Merely
: some form of slavery in a state of animated but not
: 'living' death.
I see exactly what you're saying. The person who once owned that body is still dead, whereever dead people go in Myth, but it's just his body that is reanimated. I agree with this, but I say that the dream of unlife is the only way one can reanimate corpses. One cannot make that person 'live' again in his previous body.
so you and i both believe that thrall do not possess unlife in its literal sense, but it appears you believe one can actually make this happen by using the dream of unlife [which you believe has not been discovered], whereas I believe the dream of unlife [which i believe Has been discovered] is simply the only way to reanimate dead corpses
So you and i actually differ in what we think the dream of unlife does, the lesser arguement being whether or not it has been discovered.
Summary:
I believe that the only way one can reanimate dead corpses is by using the dream of unlife. In my view no other necromantic "spells" or "lesser dreams" exist because these were never mentioned in the game, only in a strategy game based on the game. i do not believe there is a way to ever truly make Undead in the sense that the person's soul is forced back into his body, thus giving it Unlife. i just believe the "dark magics" [viz. those of the dream of unlife] spoken about in the manual give it unlife in the sense that the body moves but that person is still dead.
the other side of the arguement [that im debating against] believes lesser necromantic dreams of some kind are making the thrall we see today, while the search continues for the dream of unlife.
i still believe that, in context, obviously implied in the Thrall string about Bahl'al, that the dream of unlife was discovered in the broken trow city, and that this dream was Soulblighter's most precious secret spoken about in the game, a source of canon.
