Well technically, being a Thrall wouldn't be considered Unlife. Undeath/Unlife is usually associated with some form of autonomy, some independent thought. Meanwhile, being a Thrall is defined as 'bondage as a slave', which would mean a loss of individualty and personal freedom. I do like your arguments, but if Bungie used the proper definition of a Thrall, then they do not possess 'Unlife' in the true sense of the word. Merely some form of slavery in a state of animated but not 'living' death.
Hope that made sense, it is 2am, I'll repost with sense tommorow if need be.
