From GURPS, the spells a typical Jman will know are: Charge Mandrake, Cure Disease (useful when facing undead, especially Soulless), Enchant, Halt Ageing, Haste, Lend Health, Lend Strength, Major Healing (the spell which is channeled into the mandrake for easy use in battle), Minor Healing (a prerequisite to Major Healing), Powerstone (meaning, I think, that they could, if necessary, channel the power of energon cubes into their own spells), Quick-March and Sterilise.
So while the Jmen do have a wide variety of other spells available to them, not many are terribly useful in a combat situation. Also, their order teaches them never to use their own fatigue to power spells, as Warlocks and the Deciever do, for fear they'll exhaust themselves- they are supposed to be warriors as well as healers, after all, and so must rely on Mandrake Roots charged up before the battle, although a Mandrake could, in theory, be charged with a spell other than Major Healing.
