Well, once you read the entire BC series (i'm sure you have or are planning on it), you'll realize that things worked out for the best the way things happened.
Anyway, the Head can't be Balor, because they were in very different places at the same time, Balor commanding armies and the Head causing trouble in the west. MB instead of balor having a light streak, Alric has a dark streak which he'll give in to eventually.
