Personally, I think it was the Watcher at Avon's Grove (note that we do not know exactly when the massacre occurred- it's obviously news to the two warriors, but this is the middle ages, there were no survivors, and news travels slowly, at the speed of a horseman at absolute maximum- and Alric hardly used horsemen, so it could have been several months ago.) The Undead at Crow's Bridge are almost certainly Shiver's, but mention of Avon's Grove: "Yeah. There were no bodies." "What do they do with all the bodies?" adds a nice, sinister, apprehensive feeling.
