I think that he used Lighting Spell on Damas, because only Lighting attacks can make him damage. To apture one of his crows Deceiver need use this lighting attack. To make him damage, Alric use Balmung(sword that had lighting hits).
And to kill him Alric must throw him into lava using Unknown Spell.
SB was immortal, and only great artifacts or spells could make him damage or kill him, I mean only lighting attacks could damage him, no sword(normal swords), no arrows, no molotow coctails, etc...That's why I think that he was better than Balor. We can kill Balor using normal swords and SB only lighting.
