I'd think of it more as that there's lots of possible spells that have teleporting as an effect. (Just like Warlock Fireballs and Fetch Lightning and Dispersal Dreams have different quirks and effects, but they all basically blow stuff up.) There's the World Knot spell (that Alric amps and modifies for his own use), the Tain spacewarp trick the Summoner use, the "moving through odd angles" trick of The Deceiver, Soulblighter flitting around as a flock of crows, and so forth. All the different "teleports" have their own strengths and weaknesses.
In general, Dreams aside, it seems like a talented mage can pretty much handcraft his own spells in Myth. Even a Dream like the Dispersal can have different trappings depending on who uses it (Alric vs. the Shades).
