All arcmage have a lot of spells. EX: Alric in "The Forge" use spell that throw SB into lava. And we can't use this spell in game, I mean in "Gate of Storms" and "Twice Born".
The same with *big D*, in the level "Deceiver" we see that he can teleport your units, but in game we can't use this spell.
So, they(mages, avataras, etc...) can use a lot of kind of spells.
