It's not that you hold them--you contemplate a Runestone and then learn one of the Dream spells. Alric's Dispersal Dream is one of these; so is Myrdred's Binding Dream. We've heard about but not seen ingame some other Dreams, like a confinement Dream used on The Watcher and the Dream of Unlife that he searched for.
