Well, if you're going to force balor to resign his main weapon (his sword), then you would have to limit the speed and finesse of soulblighters magic weapon(s), namely his body.
Balor's sword and SB's martial arts are part of who they are. If you put Balor and SB in a fight, Balor would surely win, because he is a more powerful archmage, and he could command Soulblighter to lay down and die anyway, since he was able to subvert him...
