: the people who wrote the initial story are part of the
: present bungie. they have come here in the past, but
: it has been a fair while since they have been here.
: the chances of getting much more information from
: them, though, are minimal, especially with the story
: no longer being theirs to tell and with a lot more in
: the pipeline a few months away.
: thoth's complaints about how little story there is may be
: true, but his reason for it is unfounded. the story in
: myth is told in the pregame journal entries (which are
: also text and could be as long as a whole novel) and
: through in-game cinematic sequences, that latter being
: something marathon could not do.
I take back a few things I said about Bungie. I now think the problem is that ever since Bungie expanded into the PC market with Myth TFL they've grown to such a large size that they no longer had as much time for their more "fanatic in a good way" fans. It seems like they've turned into that "average" game company that, though they put out excellent games, they simply don't have enough time to expand on the story and such. They pretty much just pop out a game and spit out a few bug/feature patches and thats just fine, but it seems like there was more to Bungie in the past.
As for the pregame journal entries: You misunderstood. I said that an entire novel could be written JUST from the terminal texts in Marathon. That means that nothing would have to be made up or explained that much. In Myth, however, you could write a novel, but I don't think it would be as long or as detailed. It would be a good book, but not the epic that Marathon would be. This is just my opinion and though I thought the story in Myth was EXCELLENT, I still feel that Bungie made a few errors that could have been fixed by a simple response. Take the New Marathon Timeline that Bungie released for Marathon. There were apparently some major conflicts with some of the ingame dates so Bungie clarified it and even added it into the game (Leela apparently scrambling humankind history, simple enough)
As for the cinematics: In my own opinion and this is only my opinion, I felt that the movies took away from the game in a way. M2 movies were better, but when I saw the TFL movies I got the feeling I was watching loony tunes rather then an Epic Struggle Between Good and Evil. Anyways, Im out of breathe so I'll shut up for awhile :)
